Margaret Rose Anness, age 93, wife of McKinley Anness Jr., of Harrodsburg died Friday, January 17, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born November 5, 1931 in Lincoln County, KY, to the late Walker and Louella Mae (Trisler) Buchanan. Margaret was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a deacon, a member of Emma Watts Sunday School Class and was a retired Registered Nurse. She was employed by Ephraim McDowell - James B. Haggin Hospital for 38 1/2 years, which was something she was very proud of. Prior to becoming a nurse she worked at Cricketer, Corning Glass and Palm Beach. Margaret began her nursing career at the age of 40 years old as a LPN and 10 years later went to Midway College where she obtained a college nursing degree becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked in many different departments at Haggin Hospital but enjoyed obstetrics, surgery and the Emergency Department the best. She was a nurse’s nurse and was very well respected and loved by all. After retiring from nursing, Margaret became a small business owner of the Greenwood Gift Shop in Harrodsburg KY. She later renamed the shop as Victorian and Orchids Boutique on Main Street. She absolutely loved meeting all the customers that would come into her shop, many of which became lifetime friends. Margaret was also awarded the Business Professional Women’s Woman of Achievement Award in 2015. Margaret was a very determined and hard working woman whom carried a bunch of titles. Although her working titles meant the world to her, the ones she cherished the most were wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a friend (to all). The family would like to give a special thanks to Margaret's caregivers Mary Dension and Carolyn Arnold. She is survived by her highschool sweetheart and loving husband of 74 years: McKinley Anness Jr. and two beautiful daughters: Diane (John) Anness Summersett and Nancy Anness; one sister: Janet (Jerry) Buchanan Thacker; two grandchildren; Joshua (Jarah) Horne and Grayson Anness; three great grandchildren; Kiley Small, Oakley Horne and Remington Rose Horne; numerous nieces and nephews; and a Special Friend, Margo Lopez. She is proceeded in death by her Brother, George Weber (Sue) Buchanan, Sister, Nancy (Harvey) Baker, and Brother, William Irvin Buchanan. The funeral will be held 2pm on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Dr. Robert Defoor officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg KY. Visitation will be from 11am-2pm on Saturday January 25, 2025. Pallbears: Grayson Anness, Joshua Horne, Jeremy Thacker, Marcus Lake, Steve Horn, Perry Buchanan and Cecil Buchanan.
