Guy was one of the most consequential physicists in medical physics. His contributions and legacy are without peer. He is a pioneer in nuclear medicine and medical imaging, working in it long before the name of the specialty was coined. It is impossible to overstate his contributions. More importantly, he was a quintessential southern gentleman, quiet, humble, hard working and kind. My firm purchased Bluegrass Radiological Physics in 2017. Guy is an excellent scientist and an authentic gentleman; truly one of a kind. Guy's scientific contributions are Immense. He authored roughly 100 papers and traveled the world teaching physics. Physicists he mentored reflect his scientific excellence and personal virtue. Guy is one of the very few people in life one can meet who literally changed the world and helped countless patients. His work will echo for generations. May he rest in peace. I am grateful to have known him.

Guy Simmons has been a special dear friend over seventy years at Western Ky University, University of North Carolina, and throughout our many interactions throughout the years. Not only did he achieve at the top of his field in nuclear medicine but he also devoted much time to his family and friends. He has always been a great friend to me and I will miss Guy very much. My deepest condolences to the family. Dr. Simmons was one of the most wonderful human beings I’ve ever had the pleasure to know. He performed testing on new and existing nuclear medicine cameras at the VAMC in Louisville where I was employed at a nuclear medicine technologist. I looked forward to his scheduled visits because it meant I would get to interact with this kind, extremely intelligent individual that was genuinely interested in my chosen profession. I will never forget him! May his soul rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him.

Guy was more than a brilliant physicist. He demonstrated his humble nature and support for his grand-daughters, Lindsey and Hanna, schlepping props and set pieces in and out of storage for Arts for Kids, ETC. Not so many months ago Guy, Pat, Mark and I sat in their living room dissecting the world of politics and religion over wine and cheese. Thank you, Guy, for your contributions to science, art, family and friends. We'll miss you.

I was one of Guy’s Nuclear Medicine Technology students at UK in the 70’s, in his Radiation Physics classes. He was a brilliant instructor, very engaged with his students, one of the kindest men I’ve ever met. His passing leaves a hole in the universe, and our condolences go out to Pat and his entire family. We will truly miss him.
