Obituary of Bobby Elwood Thompson
Bobby Elwood Thompson, 78, of Harrodsburg, husband of Coleen Gritton Thompson, passed Thursday, April 4th, 2019, at his home. Born June 6, 1940, in Washington County to the late Ralph C. and Vivian (Derr) Thompson.
He was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and the Glad Hands Sunday school class. In 1967, Bobby established what is best known today as Thompson’s Service Center and began his lifelong passion of assisting others through a full-service station with towing. From an early age, Bobby was a visionary. He had a passion for growing his community and advancing opportunities for all of Harrodsburg.
Bobby is survived by: his wife of fifty six years, Coleen (Gritton) Thompson; one daughter, Michele (Brad) Barnett; one son, David Ezra (Malissa) Thompson; six grandchildren, Steven Chase (fiancé Sidney Cardwell) Barnett, Mason Ezra Thompson, Kennedy Paige Thompson, Carson Drury Barnett, Avery Brooke Thompson, and Chloe Houston Barnett; five sisters, Lillian (Harold) Gritton, Jean (the late J.D.) Dean , Betty (Jerry) Foster, Brenda (Bobby) Grider and Pat (Gary) Keller; one brother, Rodney (Mary Alice) Thompson. He was preceded in death by one brother; Paul “Adrian” (Sandra) Thompson.
Visitation will be held April 8th at Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Harrodsburg, KY from 1:00-7:00 pm. A Celebration of life will immediately follow, officiated by Dr.Paul Gibson and Eddie Russell.
