Obituary of Addie Velois Fitts

Addie Velois Sinkhorn Fitts, age 90, of Richmond, KY, wife of Dr. Robert O. Fitts, died Saturday, December 31, 2011, in Richmond, KY. Born August 10, 1921 in Harrodsburg, KY, she was the daughter of the late William Chase and Eliza Ann (Bailey) Sinkhorn. She was a retired teacher in the Bell Co. School System and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. She attended Bethel College and Ohio State University, and earned her Master's Degree from Union College and her Bachelor's Degree from Pikeville College. Mrs. Fitts had also taught English at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church to the Harrodsburg-area Japanese. Survivors other than her husband include: two daughters, Suzanne Chase Fitts Mantooth of Morehead, KY, and Deborah Adams Fitts Condley of Winchester, KY; two sons, Dr. John O. Fitts of Bowling Green, KY, and Douglas A. Fitts of Cumberland Gap, TN; two sisters, Betty Sinkhorn Caton of Harrodsburg, KY, and Wilma Sinkhorn Early of Winchester, KY; one brother, William Chase Sinkhorn Jr. of Danville, KY; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mae Devine. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Monday, January 2, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church by Rev. Don Mantooth with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are Clay Condley, Doug Fitts, Jim Thompson, Mark Mantooth, Don Mantooth, and John Fitts. Honorary bearers are grandchildren. Visitation will be 11 AM Monday, January 2, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church, Memorial contributions may be sent to Harrodsburg Baptist Church Beyond Measure Fund, 312 S.
